Located inside the Town Hall, the Padiham Archive Museum houses a collection of fascinating objects, photographs and keepsakes from Padiham’s past and with memorabilia from industry, shops and churches, you can clearly get an overview of changes that have occurred in the town over the years.
The centrepiece of the collection is probably the unique Padiham Water Clock, driven by a wheel that re-circulates water from a reservoir at the base. The clock displays not only hours, minutes and seconds but also days of the week, has an annual calendar and a mercurial barometer. The volunteer staff will be happy to show you around and will be able to tell you so much about the history and heritage of Padiham.
