The Padiham Townscape Heritage scheme will deliver a number of heritage skills training activities over the lifetime of the programme to provide local people with an insight into historic building conservation. Details of upcoming heritage training opportunities can be found below.
Thursday 17th October 2019
10am – 4pm @ Gawthorpe Hall, Padiham
Delivered in partnership with the Padiham Townscape Heritage scheme and master plasterer William Oakes, this free training opportunity will provide participants with an insight into the use of lime mortar. This one day taster course will provide hands on experience and will cover choosing the right lime, how to mix and re-point with lime mortars and will include a practical have-a-go session.
Practical demonstrations will be given in hot lime and mixing along with a tour of Gawthorpe Hall to see examples of 17th Century lime plastering. Participants will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience in preparing walls, materials and tools as part of a practical lime pointing session.
