The brilliant Painting Padiham event returns on Saturday 12 May 2018!
Over 55 artists are competing for cash prizes and artists’ materials by creating an original piece of art depicting Padiham and its people, over the course of one day in May!
This exciting event features artists, both professional and amateur, located around Padiham town centre and Gawthorpe Hall grounds.
Visitors to the event will be able to see artists at work and enjoy seeing original art created before their eyes.
Visitor Guides including maps detailing artists locations will be available on the day from Storm Art Gallery, 101-105 Burnley Rd, Picture House Gallery, 4-8 Burnley Rd, Gawthorpe Hall, event staff and Padiham town centre businesses. Each Artist will have a number and an Artist Bio on display to help visitors locate and find out more about the artists taking part.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase the original artwork during the exhibition which launches on 26 May.
As well as seeing amazing art created there are loads more attractions at the event!
A vintage bus will take visitors between Padiham town centre and Gawthorpe Hall. The bus will pick up on the hour, from 10am, on Burnley Rd by the junction with Eccleshill Rd (Hand & Shuttle pub). The bus will collect visitors from Gawthorpe Hall on the half hour from 10.30am and drop passengers outside Padiham Town Hall. Last bus will be from Gawthorpe Hall at 3.30pm.
There will be amazing creative workshops on the front lawn of Gawthorpe Hall (10.30am to 3.30pm) and at Padiham Library (10am to 12pm) and Picture House Gallery (1pm to 3pm).
Plus, The Men from NAFA will be will be delivering an exciting writing & poetry workshop, with an explosive finale from 3.30pm. If that wasn’t enough, singer/songwriter Jay Stansfield will be composing and performing songs about visitors, and Little Big Band will be performing on the Town Hall steps!
Visitors will be able to take in the great shops and eateries in Padiham town centre as well has visiting as many artists around the town as they can. For more information about Padiham town centre see our Directory pages.
For artists and visitors who are travelling some distance to Padiham for the event, The Lawrence boutique hotel is conveniently located in Padiham town centre for overnight stays.
