Padiham on Parade 1940’s weekend
Padiham Steps Back in Time for a Memorable 1940s Weekend

Padiham travelled back through the decades as the town celebrated its popular 1940s Weekend 26th-28th June 2026, bringing history, nostalgia and community spirit to the streets.
The event welcomed visitors dressed in authentic wartime and vintage clothing, creating a wonderful atmosphere as the town centre was transformed into a celebration of life during the 1940s. Families, history enthusiasts and local residents enjoyed a weekend filled with entertainment, displays and activities inspired by the era.
Throughout the event, visitors were able to enjoy a range of attractions, including vintage vehicles, period displays, market stalls, music, performances and activities celebrating the spirit and resilience of the 1940s. The sights and sounds of the era provided a unique opportunity for people of all ages to experience a glimpse of the past.
The highlight of the weekend took place on Sunday, when the annual Padiham on Parade procession made its way through the town. The parade featured local primary schools, serving military personnel, cadet forces, veterans and community organisations, all proudly taking part in a colourful display of civic pride and respect. Large crowds lined the streets to watch and applaud those participating, making it a fitting centrepiece for the event’s tenth anniversary.
Following the parade, participants and spectators gathered at Padiham Town Hall for a memorial service, providing an opportunity to reflect, remember and honour the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces, past and present. The service was a poignant conclusion to the parade and reinforced the event’s enduring commitment to remembrance alongside celebration.
Reaching its tenth anniversary is a significant milestone for Padiham on Parade, which has grown into one of the town’s most important annual community events. Over the past decade, it has brought together schools, veterans, military organisations, volunteers and residents, strengthening community ties while ensuring that remembrance remains at the heart of the celebrations.
The Padiham on Parade organisers would like to thank everyone who took part, including performers, exhibitors, volunteers, local businesses and visitors, whose enthusiasm helped make the 1940s Weekend such a successful and enjoyable event.
